Brain teasers with answers
Updated August 13, 2026 · 3 min read · 8 teasers to try
A brain teaser is a short puzzle built to make you think sideways — the obvious reading is almost never the answer. The best ones need no instructions: a picture, a few words, and that itch in your head that won’t quit until it clicks. Every teaser on this page comes with its answer one tap away.
We make Rebus Master, a puzzle game built entirely around the oldest brain teaser there is: the rebus, a picture that spells out a hidden phrase. So this collection plays to our home turf — picture and word brain teasers, all solvable in your head, all with answers included.
Try these eight — answers included
Each image hides an English word or phrase. Say what you see, mind the positions and sizes, then reveal the answer.

Want a bigger set? We keep 24 picture brain teasers with answers sorted easy to hard.
The main types of brain teasers
- Picture brain teasers. An image encodes a word or phrase — position, size, direction and repetition all carry meaning. The classic form is the rebus, and it’s what we do best. Start with our picture brain teasers.
- Word brain teasers. Wordplay puzzles — hidden phrases, letter math, double meanings. Our 40 rebus puzzles with answers lean this way, and the idiom puzzles are word teasers with a language lesson baked in.
- Riddles and logic problems. The spoken-word cousins — “what has keys but can’t open locks?” We don’t publish these; when a puzzle needs a picture, we draw it instead.
Brain teasers for adults — too easy? Try the hard tier
Most “brain teasers for adults” lists are riddles you’ve heard before. Ours bite in a different place: the hard tier hides English idioms — read the riot act, the last straw — behind deliberately literal pictures, so even seasoned solvers get that satisfying two-second delay before the click. Jump straight to the hard picture teasers or the hard rebus puzzles.
A daily brain teaser, free in your browser
The best way to keep the habit is one puzzle a day. Our daily rebus is exactly that: a fresh illustrated brain teaser every midnight UTC, played on the game’s real keyboard, three mistakes allowed, streak on the line. No download, no sign-up.
Want a full brain teaser game rather than one puzzle a day? Rebus Master — the free game behind this site — has 1,300+ illustrated picture puzzles with hints, streaks and weekly events, on the App Store for iPhone and Google Play for Android.
